Have you ever been stuck in the middle of a project or season?

Chapter breaks and commercials are two ways that allow a story to jump from point A to point B without boring us. Whether you are stuck in the middle in your writing project or in your life, I hope you will find encouragement in my guest post Stuck in the Middle: The Secret to Waiting Well .

I met Sarah Simmons in a Facebook community of writers and fell in love with her website, Beautiful Between. It is hope filled and inspirational.

Although I currently feel stuck in both my writing and my life, I have to remind myself that even small steps are movement in the right direction.

The book I am currently working on is taking longer than expected, and I’m reminding myself to take it one word at a time.

When the task seems daunting, I set my timer to 15 minutes. I can do 15 minutes! Once I am done, I take a short break and do it again. Sometimes I even let the timer go off and keep writing because the hardest part is getting myself to start.

Currently my husband is in school and we are living with family. While our arrangement is working and we feel incredibly blessed to have the option to live with family, I would be lying if I said it was easy. We’ve had to find creative ways to create space for ourselves and I am continually grateful for the FREE car we were given!

As I look at my son, who is currently going through a clingy phase, I am reminded that although we may feel stuck in the middle, this is where the best parts of our stories are forged.

One day, when our books are written and our children grown, we will look back and LONG for the days in the middle.

Remembering this helps me slow down and embrace the stuck in the middle seasons. A new beginning is just around the corner and I don’t want to miss the middle of my story where all the character development takes place.

Are you currently stuck in the middle?

I love hearing from you,

Deanne

I am currently stuck in the middle myself: both as a writer and in my life. Although my mind acknowledges that

knows that I am waiting and that this season will end, at times

I’m currently in the middle of completing the first eBook of the Guilt Free Mom Series (if you’re a mom and would like to take the survey, click here).

The middle of a project is where the work begins. We’ve lost momentum and the swept off your feet by a brilliant idea has faded as the reality of what it will take to complete the project sets in.
